--- AIRLINES OFFER DEALS - Weekend Adventures & More ---
The airlines have finally figured out how to use the 'Net to fill up empty seats and the result is a boon for consumers.

While flying is sometimes an adventure in and of itself, these fares can take you to some pretty wild places.

Many airlines have started offering web-only or e-mail only specials - fares that are not generally advertised, but are sent to subscribers in weekly e-mails or posted weekly on the airline's website. Typically these are last minute fares, posted midweek for travel over the coming weekend, although sometimes more general fares are offered. Special deals on hotels at some destinations are also offered.

If you can be somewhat flexible and are looking for a fantastic last-minute adventure, these fares are for you. Use them to take an exotic weekend break, or to find the right time to visit family or friends. Or, watch the fares to your hometown and call your friends when a great fare appears and invite them to spend the weekend at your place.

What types of fares are available? For example, during the last couple of weeks we could have traveled from New York to, all with no advanced purchase: Denver $99 R/T (Continental), Orange County $179 R/T (TWA), Santo Domingo $198 R/T (TWA), Washington DC $69 R/T (American), London $249 R/T (American), Montreal $114 R/T (Air Canada), Asia $999 R/T to 18 cities (Cathay Pacific), ...

Our recommendation: Sign-up for e-mail notices (and watch the sites) of the airlines that have a hub near you. Even if you aren't ready to travel, watch the fares to see what destinations are available, and when something comes up, book quickly...

Of course there's skiing and dog-sledding, but keep your eyes open and you'll find adventure where you might not have expected it.

- Big City Adventures?

VACATION ADVENTURES:
So, you're heading for a family ski vacation or to Disney World this winter? Why not take a day out of your ordinary vacation to try a new sport or adventure?

If you're hitting the slopes at Aspen, try tandem paragliding flight with Aspen Paragliding or experience backcountry skiing or ice climbing with Aspen Expeditions.

Going to Disney World? Less than half an hour away is world-class Soaring with Seminole Lake Gliderport or hang gliding with Quest Air.

Other vacation destinations offer similar opportunities - just don't be afraid to leave your friends or family for a day to take advantage of an opportunity of a lifetime.

CITY ADVENTURES:
Next time you travel to a big city (for work or otherwise), why not add an adventure? While you might not be able to raft the rapids or climb a mountain in a City, you'd be surprised at what you can find in or around some major metropolises:

There might not be any mountains in Miami, but it's the perfect place to try Hang Gliding, with a boat-launched tandem hang gliding flight with Miami Hang Gliding .

If business or pleasure takes you to Phoenix, use the opportunity to experience soaring glider flight at Estrella Sailport, just outside Phoenix.

When in Seattle, you can sea kayak right off the waterfront with Outland Adventures/Kayak Seattle , or take a two-day Sea Kayaking trip in Boston Harbor with Zoar Outdoor (of course you can't try these last two in the Winter).

Adventure is always closer than you think. Our credo is to keep your eyes open for opportunities and then take advantage of them whenever you can. Don't wait for life to find you, go out and find life...
